The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, assured that the action of the United States “constitutes an unacceptable threat of aggression, of violation of sovereignty, and an additional alteration of the regime of peace and cooperation that Latin American and Caribbean countries have focused so much on guaranteeing”, referring to the measure announced by US imperialism to authorize some agencies to act within the borders of other States.

He also stressed that Cuba denounces the new and recent “demonstration of imperial force, and we join the call to condemn such an irrational attack by the Trump administration.”

The statement was made at the event led by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, of the XIII Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America — Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), via videoconference, in which all threats to Latin American Peoples are addressed.

On the other hand, he stressed that the United States violates all the norms of international coexistence “by putting a price on the head of the legitimate President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.”

“We denounce the accusations that seek to associate the Venezuelan Head of State, without any basis or evidence, with criminal organizations linked to illegal drug trafficking,” he said.

President Canel argued that “this type of maneuver is part of the North American strategy when it harbours aggressive intentions towards sovereign states.”

He pointed out that the current threats against Venezuela “are based on the same philosophy of dispossession that has turned a small strip of land into the hell of this world”, referring to Gaza.

Regarding Latin America, he said that the United States seeks to “divide us, but our history is marked by a powerful legacy of resistance from indigenous peoples, Asia, Africa and Europe itself.”

“All crimes have perpetrators and accomplices to be able to sustain themselves over time. Israeli Zionism and Yankee imperialism exchange roles in their criminal exercises,” he said.

In this regard, he stated that based on the knowledge and feelings that “our ancestors left us, we must demand that in every rostrum, in every space, the expression of rejection of imperialism emerge: That the genocide in Gaza cease”.
