The Minister of Popular Power for Defense, G/J Vladimir Padrino López, led the ceremony of delivery and reception of the Rectory of the Bolivarian Military University of Venezuela (UMBV), as well as six Directorates of the Military Academies.
The appointments were instructed by the Commander-in-Chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) and president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, Padrino López reported on his Instagram account.
Padrino stressed that this is “a ceremony, which undoubtedly projects the institution into the future and reflects the work done by the directors of Military Academies, of six academies, of the twelve that have been relieved of command”.
He also augmented success to the newly appointed and urged them to work based on the strategic lines guided by the Commander in Chief; as well as, the outgoing, he took the opportunity to thank them for their mission in office.
In his speech, Padrino López emphasized that the UMBV is a work of the Supreme Commander, Hugo Chávez Frías, “a legacy, unique, precious and loved. You have to take care of it and project it over time.”
He also indicated that this house of studies has become a national reference, so he urged us to project it beyond borders. “The ALBA-TCP could be a space to experience these approaches to the Peoples of Our America,” he proposed to the Executive Secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance of the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), Jorge Arreaza.
Padrino called for strengthening, consolidating and deepening the comprehensive, patriotic and Bolivarian formation of the FANB “our Commander in Chief has asked us to go further with ideological, patriotic and Chavista formation (...) to make it more systematic”, because the UMB “is the beacon, then, the angular plane of the ethical behavior of military men and women”.
“We have a heroic heritage from our Liberators, and that heritage is now present in the DNA of the men and women who wear the uniform today, who are constantly fighting for our independence and sovereignty,” he added.
M/G Omar Enrique Pérez La Rosa was appointed rector of the UMBV, while G/B Numa Alberto Coss Ferreira assumes ownership of the Military Technical Academy of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) and Colonel Orlando Alejandro Torrealba Díaz will be in charge of the Military Academy of Health Sciences.
