From his telegram channel, the Head of State, Nicolás Maduro, assured that “if there is anyone who can demonstrate the resistance and value of the fight for dignity, identity and authentic humanity, they are the original peoples of our America.” This is what he said about commemorating the International Day of Indigenous Peoples this Saturday, August 9.

He said that “his legacy is the basis of our identity and the strength that inspires us.” He said he was “proud to be the Brazo Duro Indian, of our ancient roots, and I have a deep commitment to the original peoples of Venezuela and the world: to defend their lands, cultures and languages.”

He recalled that “the Bolivarian Revolution, with Commander Hugo Chávez, did justice and settle the immense debt of colonialism and capitalism. Our 1999 Constitution is the only one in the world that guarantees their rights and their representation, it is an act of historic vindication.”

In this regard, he specified that “I am convinced that indigenous peoples will be the driving soul and the original energy of the great changes that humanity needs to rediscover justice, equality and the natural happiness of the human being. May the rebellion and dignity of our original peoples live forever!”
