This Sunday, November 9th, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, sent a letter to his counterparts in the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) to warn them about threats from the United States in the Caribbean.

The letter shared by the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, through his Telegram channel, highlights that “in the face of these threats and executions that have been denounced by the UN (United Nations Organization), we are obliged, in order to preserve peace in the region, to join our forces as countries, and in one voice to demand the immediate cessation of military attacks and threats against our peoples”.

For this reason, in the text, the Head of State urged his counterparts to reaffirm the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace and categorically reject any militarization of this maritime space. In addition, he indicated that an independent investigation should be required of executions reported by UN human rights mechanisms.

In addition to this, he pointed out that from this space we must also reiterate the condemnation of the criminal and inhuman blockade imposed against the People and the Government of the Republic of Cuba.

Below, we share the Chancellor's publication with the full letter:
