During the special interview with the journalist and political analyst of Opera Mundi, Breno Altman, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, emphasized that Venezuela will never resolve the territorial claim of the Essequibo with the use of military force.

He said that Venezuela “has international law in its favor and has sought out all generations of existing governments for almost 200 years, to first face the threat of the British Empire to invade the country, when they constituted the colony of British Guiana.”

“Then faced with the betrayal and the stab that the American empire put in us and its threats now with Exxon Mobil,” he said.

Faced with this scenario, he argued that Venezuela has the Geneva Agreement signed in 1966, deposited with the UN, which recognize our rights to the historic claim. Esequiba Guiana didn't give them to us, it's part of our map that Bolívar left us.”
