The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, highlighted this Tuesday the strengthening of democracy in the country with the legislative and regional elections to be held on April 27.

During the first Plenary of the Federal Governing Council 2025, from the Miraflores Palace, the head of state pointed out that “because we believe in the creative powers of the People, we are standing here and ready to continue the march into the years and decades to come, with a Venezuela that must be strengthened in its democracy, in its economy, in its institutionality.”

He pointed out that this year 2025 “we have a lot of work”, so he invited political leaders to participate in the upcoming election day. “I see the face of many here with the face that they are going to repeat. The April 27 election is already set. Get ready to repeat. Well, that's not up to me. I neither add nor remove candidates. In any case, each political party, each movement will do its own methods, it will choose its candidates, its candidates. I wish them luck,” he said.

He thanked the governors, governors, mayors and mayors “for having done so much for peace in Venezuela during these complex years. They are invited. On April 27, there is an appointment, the first constitutional appointment, let's talk in some way because this year the constitutional mandate of governorates, mayors and the National Assembly expires.”

In this regard, he indicated that the National Electoral Council (CNE), “the only body to convene electoral processes, has convened. It is not up to the President of the Republic or any institution to appoint governorates or mayors or legislators or legislators or councilors or councilors. It belongs to the only one in this country who can appoint governorates, mayors, legislative councils and municipal councils, which is the sovereign people, the neighbor, the neighbor, the ordinary man and the woman,” he said.
