The president of the National Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents Autonomous Institute (IDENNA), Anahi Arismendi, as part of the multidisciplinary team, supported the decision of the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) and its actions against the social network TikTok, due to the lack of control of its content through viral challenges that jeopardize the physical and mental integrity of Children and Adolescents.

He stated that the decision of the Supreme Court is establishing a clear route so that violence is not normalized through social networks.

“Large social media companies, in this case on Tik Tok, must establish a physical office in the country so that they assume legal responsibility and the public can come to receive complaints,” he said.

He stated that it is a decision that sets a precedent in legal matters for Venezuela.

“The Venezuelan justice system established a fine of 10 million dollars, which will serve to care for families who are currently in mourning as a result of these viral challenges,” he said.

He also stressed that this will also help to compensate for the psychological damage, which have caused viral challenges in families, children and adolescents.

Venezuela is at the forefront at the international level on the importance of establishing legislative regulations to control content that has been irresponsibly produced on networks,” he added.
