President Rodríguez held an expanded meeting to review strategic areas of cooperation with Suriname

This Friday, September 11, the President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, held an extended meeting with her counterpart from Suriname, Jennifer Geerlings-Simons, together with official delegations from both countries, to review strategic areas of bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting held at the Presidential Palace of Paramaribo, delegations evaluated advances in energy, air and maritime transport, agriculture, fishing, commerce, tourism, education and culture, with the participation of ministerial authorities from both countries.

The day reaffirmed the will of Venezuela and Suriname to strengthen their bilateral relations and expand areas of cooperation for the benefit of both peoples.

For Venezuela, the Minister of People's Power for Hydrocarbons, Paula Henao; the First Deputy Minister of the People's Power for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Oliver Blanco; the Minister of Popular Power for Transportation, Francisco Garcés; the Minister of Popular Power for Tourism, Daniella Cabello; the Minister of Popular Power for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Juan Carlos Loyo; the Sectorial Vice President of Communication and Culture, Miguel Ángel Pérez Pirela; the Minister of People's Power for the Office of the Presidency, Juan Escalona; the Deputy Minister for the Caribbean, Raúl LiCausi; and the Venezuelan Ambassador to Suriname, Ayerim Flores Rivas.

The Surinamese delegation included, among other authorities, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and International Cooperation, Melvin Bouva; the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Mike M. Noersalim; the Minister of Education, Science and Culture, Dirk M.R. Currie; the Minister of Transportation, Communication and Tourism, Raymond H. Landveld; the President's Chief of Staff, Sergio F.D. Akiemboto; and the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Miriam A. Mac Intosh.
