During the inauguration of the 21st International Book Fair of Venezuela (FILVEN), from the National Art Gallery in Caracas, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, urged to combat Eurocentrism and Nortecentrism, because they represent the basis of fascism.

“When I attack, because I attack him and I ask that they help me in the attack (...) on knowledge and culture and on history and on our historical project, we go on the attack of Eurocentrism, of Nortecentrism, which is the basis of fascism,” said the Head of State.

He stressed that fascism emerged in Europe because “in our peoples it cannot arise (...) because we don't think we are superior to anyone nor do we want to impose on anyone a way of life, a way of thinking, nor do we consider any other people less than us because of the color of our skin or wealth”.

Maduro emphasized that Nazism emerged where it had to, “at the epicenter of a discriminatory, exploitative culture, at a time when capitalism was at its worst, when the Soviet Union had given hope for changes to all human civilization.”
