Heavy rains in Ecuador have left 14 dead and more than 73,000 people affected, according to the National Secretariat for Risk Management (SNGR).

The overflow of the Pital River also flooded roads, especially on the road between Machala and Santa Rosa, affecting 40 neighborhoods. The roads that connect El Oro with Loja, Guayas and areas near the border with Peru are impassable due to flooding.
