The Bolivarian government completed the collection of 175 tons of garbage in streets and communities in the Libertador
municipality of Mérida through a special operation to stabilize the service and in preparation for the August-September tourist season.
According to local press reports, the activation of the “Mérida unites us” plan seeks to restore normality in the provision of urban sanitation, which in recent weeks has been doubly affected, by administrative factors and road damage, caused by the rains of the month of June.
The authorities' call is for organized communities to be protagonists and guarantors of the care of public spaces, complying with the time and days scheduled for the disposal of waste, preferably selected.
It is estimated that the collection of 175 tons of garbage requires completing at least 27 trips of compactor trucks with a unit capacity of 6.3 tons (6,300 kilos), for final disposal in the landfill, located more than 30 kilometers southwest of Mérida, in the Sucre municipality
