The head of the Ven25+ National Campaign Command, Jorge Rodríguez, reported that the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela maintains daily communications with officials of the administration of President Donald Trump, with the objective of achieving the release of 31 Venezuelan children kidnapped in the United States and 252 compatriots held in El Salvador.
During a press conference, Rodríguez denounced that private conversations have been irresponsibly leaked by sectors of the US power, distorting the facts. “What the New York Times is saying is not exactly how it happened. I have evidence, messages and records of all the conversations that have taken place,” he said.
The leader reiterated that the Government's priority is the return of children and migrants. “The first thing we do every day is to demand that our children be returned to us. They are not yours, they are your mothers, your fathers, your grandparents, they are from Venezuela,” he said.
Regarding the 252 Venezuelans kidnapped in El Salvador, Rodríguez described the actions of the Nayib Bukele government as “inhumane”, not providing basic information about the detainees or allowing them access to legal defense. “They haven't even sent a list. The nine women who were returned reported torture, ill-treatment and undignified conditions in detention centers,” she reported.
Rodríguez thanked Cardinal Gregorio Rosa Chávez for his support in El Salvador and asked the Vatican and churches of all faiths to join the call for the restoration of the rights of Venezuelan migrants.
On possible diplomatic and commercial ruptures with the European Union (EU), Rodríguez said that firm measures are being evaluated in response to aggressions against Venezuela. “If the rupture materializes, the economic balance will be affected, but it will be a sovereign decision in defense of our rights,” he said.
