The Nicaraguan poet, writer, diplomat and journalist was born on January 18, 1867 under the name of Félix Rubén García Sarmiento, however, the world knew him and remembers him as Rubén Darío.
The so-called prince of Castilian literature was a child prodigy, since at only three years old he could read and had a gifted memory and creativity.
Much has been written about the work and style of Darío, in fact, some authors have referred to the influence of the French Victor Hugo and Paul Verlaine on them; others have highlighted the mastery of his chronicle and his way of making poetic discourse.
Author of Blue and Profane Prose, as well as Political Writings and other works that all children of the Great Homeland must read, at least once in their lives.
His legacy inspires us to continue building a “free, dignified and prosperous homeland”, said Rosario Murillo, vice-president of Nicaragua, when she was the communication and citizenship coordinator of La Voz del Sandinismo.
His stories, articles and poems are his cover letter. Nicaragua is always linked to its name and its glory, since it is, today, a fundamental part of its diplomacy and culture.
Darío's poetry is patriotic, militant, nationalist. In his journey through the earthly plane, he was diplomatic, a function that helped him many times to relate, to survive, to know other horizons.
