Russia launches record number of satellites into orbit with the Soyuz-2.1b rocket

This Tuesday, the Russian Federation reported that the Soyuz-2.1b rocket took off on November 5 at 02:18 Moscow time, from Vostochny, with two Ionospher-M satellites to study the ionosphere, the magnetic field and 53 small satellites.

According to information released by the press an hour after the launch, the two Ionosphere-M satellites, each weighing 430 kilos, were placed in the planned orbit and, subsequently, the maneuver began with the 53 satellites.

It was also announced that the Russian Soyuz spacecraft carried out the placement in orbit of 16 satellites built by students from different universities in the country.

In that vein, a satellite created jointly by Russia and Zimbabwe and two Iranian satellites were also on board.

One of the satellites launched was Druzhba, the first developed with the collaboration of students from Amur State University (Russia) and Harbin Polytechnic University (China).

The governor of the Russian Amur region, Vasili Orlov, described the satellite as unique, while expressing his confidence that there will be many joint projects of this type.
