The emblematic María Nela Alas room of the National Experimental University of the Arts (UNEARTE), located in the Palo Sano sector of the Arismendi municipality, Nueva Esparta state, was reactivated with the screening of the film “Kueka: Ancestral Memory”, marking a milestone for audiovisual culture in the Insular region.

The opening event was attended by the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, who expressed his joy at the reopening of the room and the special screening of the documentary, directed by María de los Ángeles Peña.

“Not only are we delighted to premiere, here in Margarit , the film 'Kueka: Ancestral Memory', but we are once again inaugurating a Venezuelan film festival that will be showing here in this room over the next few days: seven Venezuelan films, seven days of cinema,” he said.

He also pointed out that the premiere of the documentary forms part of a Venezuelan film festival that will screen seven national productions for seven consecutive days in that room.

For this reason, he invited people to enjoy this Venezuelan film series. “If you are going to go to the beautiful cinema that shows the sacred image of our ancestry and which is an invitation to a different cinema, different things that suddenly have little or nothing to do with our daily lives,” he said

He highlighted the coincidence of this initiative with the various cultural events typical of the month of June, such as the festivities of Saint Anthony, the Dancing Devils, Saint John and Saint Peter, further enriching the Neo-Spartan cultural scene.

The reopening of this space was possible thanks to the support of the National Autonomous Cinematography Center (CNAC).
