Second National Short Story Festival brought together more than 50 participants

The Second National
Short Story Festival, organized by the Cultural Mission, in the Miranda municipality of the state of
Guárico, in the city of Calabozo, brought together 51 participants from various
states of the country in a pleasant atmosphere of literary celebration.
Representatives from states such as
Aragua, Miranda, Carabobo, Zulia, Bolivar, Sucre, Yaracuy, Cojedes,
Capital District and, of course, Guárico were present at the
Francisco Lazo Martí House of Culture, where the event was held.
During the event, the winners received
a statuette made by the culturist Yesenia Gámez and a recognition,
while all the participants obtained a certificate.
Certificates were also awarded to
stories that received special mentions. The evening was enlivened by the musical
performance of the Afroson Group, of the National System of Popular Cultures.
The winning stories with
special mentions are the following: In the Historical category, the winning story was
“María de los Ángeles: Queen of the Chipmunks”, by the author Miguel Arana
(Dungeon, Guárico). The special mentions went to “The Day the
Stars Saw Me Awake” by José Gregorio Cárdenas (San Felipe,
Yaracuy) and “Afro-Venezuelanidad” by Ramón Zerpa (Santa María de Ipire, Guárico).
In the Fantasy category, the
winning story was “Braids” by the author Carmen Rodríguez (San Juan de los Morros,
Guárico). The special mentions went to “The Death of Emilio” by Noris
Pacheco (Zulia state) and “The Angel of Venegesis” by Marleni Hernández (Dungeon, Guárico).
For the Mystery category, the
winning story was “The Cross of Verlamino” by author Ubaldo Ruiz (Dungeon). Special
mentions were awarded to “The House of Forgotten Echoes” by Yecenia
Gámez (Dungeon), “The bellow of the weeping woman” by Jesús Ascanio (Dungeon) and
“Interview with the Deceased” by Héctor González (San Carlos, Cojedes).
In the Horror category, the
winning story was “Guarda Jumo: The Shadow of Revenge” by Miguel Páez (Dungeon).
The special mention went to “The Eternal Secretary” by Dominga Ascanio
(Dungeon, Guárico).
For the Drama category, the
winning story was “Warrior Miracle of a Thousand Battles” by author Yevsica Aponte
(Dungeon, Guárico). The special mention went to “Paris” by Luisa Martínez
(Carúpano, Sucre). In the Romance category, the winning story was “Love Between
Gangs” by author Hillary Fernández (San Felipe, Yaracuy).
Finally, in the Science
Fiction category, the winning story was “Times of Change” by author Víctor Rodríguez
(Maracay, Aragua). The special mention went to “A Blue Boy” by Zulay Nadiel
(Dungeon, Guárico).
The winning stories of this edition will be published in the digital magazine Cultura en Movimiento, offering a platform of visibility to these new talents.
