The Venezuelan men's softball team arrived this Tuesday at Simon Bolivar International Airport in Maiquetía, after being crowned champion of the 18th WBSC World Championship in Canada 2025.

The team that made history was welcomed by the Minister of Popular Power for Sports, Franklin Cardillo, who, on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, expressed his pride in this great feat.

“It was worth the effort, the dedication, the dedication and the discipline in each of the training sessions. Since February, our president has instructed us to comply with a preparation plan for all the national teams that has been fully carried out month by month, day after day, with a full coaching staff, full interdisciplinary teams, good preparation on Venezuelan soil and focused on this world championship from the first day they arrived,” he said.

He pointed out that the team went “to give everything for this championship, game after game, there was the rapprochement of this work team led by our president María Soto, president of softball, also president of the Olympic Committee and in her to congratulate the entire coaching staff,” added the minister.

The Venezuelan national team won his first world title by beating New Zealand 3-0 in an exciting final played at the Prime Ministers' Park Field stadium, taking revenge for the defeat suffered against the same rival in 2013.
