The administrative and medical staff of the gastropediatric unit of the Dr. Carlos Arvelo University Military Hospital received an induction with the objective of training the teams in the use of the single digital medical record, which will be implemented in this hospital to advance the modernization of the health system.

Facilitators, medical records professionals, telematics, nurses and representatives of the Foundation for Integral Cardiology (FUNDACARDIN) participated in the training.

The platform, which was developed by experts from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MINCYT) and the Ministry of Health (MPPS), seeks to improve treatment continuity, collaboration between multidisciplinary teams and optimize patients' quality of life.

Dr. Nina Colina, head of the Gastroenterology and Pediatric Nutrition Unit at the health center, highlighted the importance of this initiative, because “this technological tool leads us to modern medicine. The idea is to transform all that doctor-patient relationship into strengthening doctors and different specialties.”

He stressed that “medical personnel are the fundamental pillar for collecting all clinical information, digitizing it and linking it effectively, allowing quality care.”

This new system will be implemented in two areas of the hospital: Children's Cardiology and Gastropediatrics, which will be the pilot services of the single digital story.

Dr. Colina also highlighted the importance of this strategy “to identify all emerging pathologies in the health condition of our population, which will allow for a more timely diagnosis and treatment.”

Regarding the number of patients treated in the Gastropediatric Unit, Dr. Colina noted that between 20 and 25 children are received daily from different parts of the country, and explained that this new resource will facilitate the medical care of these children in a more efficient and coordinated way.
