State security forces began investigations into the “strange causes” that caused the fire at the shrimp processing plant located in the San Francisco municipality of Zulia state, according to a statement issued by the Lamar group, a company linked to the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture.
In the text released on the Telegram channel of the said Portfolio, three weeks ago, before the accident occurred, a significant financial investment was made for preventive and corrective maintenance of infrastructure, machinery and production lines.
“All the losses have been purely material, such as: supplies, machines, infrastructure and inventory of products for domestic sales and export,” the text states.
In this regard, the board of directors of the Lamar group guaranteed productive and labor continuity, as well as the recovery of damaged infrastructure.
“We are standing up to the fight to continue producing and cultivating the future of Venezuela, in shrimp business units such as Laboratories, Fattening Farms, Processing Plants and other production support facilities, under strict quality, safety and security controls,” the statement said.
It is important to highlight in the middle of the morning of Easter Sunday, in the San Miguel sector of the municipality located south of the Zulian capital, the municipal fire department, in collaboration with other security and civil protection agencies, responded to the emergency, in the face of the accident reported at the facilities of the company Camaronera Antártica.
The company, dedicated to the export of white shrimp to markets in the United States, Asia and Europe, is one of the major generators of employment in the municipality and is interrelated with the fishing universe of the western coast of Lake Maracaibo, dedicated to the fishing of small crustaceans.
