The deputy to the National Assembly, Tania Díaz, highlighted the importance of the constituent process of 1999, convened by Commander Hugo Chávez, as the engine of a radical change in Venezuelan politics, cementing collective leadership and national unity.
During his program Sin Truco Ni Maña, Díaz emphasized that the 1999 Constituent Assembly was not just a promise, but a “call for the entire country to define, outline and write its future.”
He also asserted that this process resulted in a 180-degree change, embodied in constitutional articles that: “transfer sovereignty to the people, promoting participatory and leading democracy, as well as the co-responsibility of the people in the security and defense of the state.”
Deputy Díaz stressed that the Bolivarian Constitution recognized rights and voice to sectors that were historically invisible, such as women, indigenous peoples, people of African descent and the productive sectors.
He also emphasized that today Venezuela remains “not only in peace, united and firm, but also quiet.”
For his part, Francilvis Martínez, member of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), highlighted the active and conscious role of Venezuelan youth in the Bolivarian Revolution
“Since Commander Chávez came to the presidency, the Venezuelan people felt visible and the Bolivarian Revolution has grown in the warmth of the people's support,” he added.
The youth leader celebrated that in Venezuela “all paradigms were broken collectively”, and that “the people are wise and aware”.
He emphasized that the vision of the Bolivarian government is based on popular participation, social inclusion and the defense of sovereignty against hegemonic interests.
