The president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, is committing the crime of “human trafficking” with the kidnapping of more than 260 Venezuelans in a maximum-security prison in that country, said the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab.

“He (Bukele) has more than 260 Venezuelans missing in El Salvador in exchange for being paid 7 million dollars. He is doing a business with this criminal action, so he is becoming a trafficker in people of Venezuelan nationality,” Saab reported during a press conference held this Monday.

The head of the country's criminal case rebuked the Central American president for pointing out what crime our compatriots have committed in Salvadoran territory and for presenting the lawyers who assist the kidnapped compatriots.

In the same way, he urged the Attorney General's Office and the Supreme Court of El Salvador to rule on the legal remedies that have been filed in defense of our compatriots. “Let go of fear. We are facing a macro-tyranny never seen in the hemisphere, in the world,” he said.

Saab also described Nayib Bukele as a “serial violator of human rights”, with the actions he has taken, following orders from the United States, against Venezuelans.
