The Latin American Association of Petroleum Entrepreneurs (ALEP) strongly rejects the recent sanctions announced by the U.S. government against a group of Venezuelan government officials.

Quoted by Úlmas Noticias, Alejandro Terán Martínez, president of the organization that groups Latin American investors in the Texas oil and gas sector, believes that this policy of sanctions is motivated “by crazy personal political positions without political basis and with serious consequences for the peoples involved.”

In a statement, businessmen state that unilateral sanctions and other anti-economic actions against Venezuela and its oil industry are based on the personal and political ends of a group of citizens opposed to the government of President Nicolás Maduro, who they consider “have had lethal consequences for the global energy market.”

They also confirm their intention - subject to compliance with the respective North American and Venezuelan laws - to increase oil production in the Orinoco oil belt, benefiting the national economy and the world market and strengthening US strategic reserves.

“From Texas, we confirm our firm intention to execute the operational, social and infrastructure investments that the large Venezuelan oil market offers to the world, in the plan that we have designated 6 million barrels by 2031,” Terán says through contact with the aforementioned media outlet.

“We consider the wrong North American policy of sanctions and blockades, it has weakened the position of the United States in the world market and has jeopardized the energy stability of the world.- Venezuela has always been the balance of that market and its necessary production in this difficult moment of global crisis,” he said.
