The closing ceremony and award ceremony of the II Film Festival: Memory and
Heritage
was held in the National Cinematheque room, a meeting that brought together outstanding Venezuelan filmmakers to
recognize creativity and commitment to audiovisual art.
During the ceremony, the Araya de Oro
Awards were awarded, a distinction that highlights the mastery and dedication of national creators
. The event was led by the Minister of
Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, who expressed his satisfaction with this activity.
“Participating in these ceremonies is a
very special act of human power. Everyone showcases their feelings,
efforts and creativity. When the jurors' judgment coincides with that of the
creators, a kind of love at first sight occurs; the winner
feels a relief and says: it was worth it,” he said.
Villegas described these awards
as “a balm for the individual spirit of those recognized and for the collective
spirit of our common mother, Venezuela”. At the same time, he congratulated the organizing
team led by Vladimir Sosa Sarabia, stressing that the
festival “will become an unavoidable reference point for Venezuelan cinematography.”
In the feature film category, “Kueka: Ancestral
Memory”, directed by María de los Ángeles Peña, won the award
for best documentary, while José Miguel
Zamora's “The Leap of the Angels” won the award for best fiction. “Ali Primera”, by Daniel Yegres,
received a special mention.
Other winners include: Laura Prieto and Rosamys Figuera (documentary student short), Lucía Romero for “The Memories of Belén” (short student fiction), Maykel Navas for “Between Rounds: Luis Primera” (short documentary) and Poll Isaza for “Black City” (short fiction).
