The Minister of the People's Power for Ecological Mining Development, Héctor Silva, is taking a tour of coal power plants in the west of the country.
Silva and a work team visited the states of Zulia, Falcón and Táchira, in order to gather concrete strategies to increase coal productivity in the country.
The tour began at the Operations Center of the emblematic Paso Diablo Mine, in Zulia, where Silva delivered the following equipment: four rock trucks, a hydraulic shovel, lubricants, spare parts and light vehicles, the Ministry of Ecological Development reported on its Instagram account.
“These teams will make it possible to continue to take advantage of mineral coal to provide greater benefits, not only to workers, but also to communities,” said the Minister.
The Minister also toured the facilities with the working class, unions, Workers' Productive Councils, and operational allies.
In Falcón state, Silva came to the La Cuesta community, El Pedregal parish, to activate the agreement signed at Expo Metal 2025, where immediate actions were defined to make this area a national reference for organized and responsible mining.
The owner of the mining portfolio announced the installation of a technical team that, together with popular power, will develop a comprehensive plan to relaunch coal operations in the old La Cuesta mine.
“We want Pedregal to become an example of the country's new Mining Brigades,” Silva emphasized.
On the other hand, in the Lobatera municipality, Táchira state, the minister met with small miners from the Los Parra mine, where he reaffirmed the commitment of the Bolivarian Government to productive diversification and the technification of the mining sector.
“We are applying a Concrete Agenda for Action to transform the economy from a productive perspective. Small-scale mining plays a key role in this process of change,” he said.
