The National Government distributed more than 20 tons of food to communities in Barinas affected by rains

Between Tuesday and Wednesday, more than 20 tons of different basic food items have been distributed by the Ministry of Food to more than 4,000 families affected by floods caused by rains in Ciudad de Nutrias, capital of the Pedro Felipe Sosa municipality, Barinas.

The Minister of Food, Carlos Leal Tellería, stressed that the care was carried out in perfect civic-military-police union, to support this contingency with greater effectiveness and organization.

“We have a popular distribution system that was created coincidentally 9 years ago, a protection system that emerged from the wisdom of the people, which is the popular organization, which is the CLAP, now strengthened with communal circuits, that system works effectively especially in contingency, so far we have incorporated more than 20 tons of food and groceries here,” he said.

In addition, as reported by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), the minister assured that a room was set up in the area for storing food, water and medicines to guarantee and facilitate the loading and unloading of trucks.

The representative of the food portfolio stated that they carried out a census of the affected people to carry out the immediate distribution of food, supplies and essential goods for life, mainly in the City of Otters.

In the midst of this contingency caused by intense rainfall, he stressed that climate changes cause effects but also create experiences of unity, faith and organized and prioritized care.

“A lot of faith and hope, our people have their protection here, all organized and tell them that we are not going to fail them, here is a Government, a Popular Power, all hand in hand to deal with this contingency effectively and above all to assist our people,” he added.
