Three Venezuelans will be present at the Major League Baseball (MLB) Future Stars Game
, which will be held on July
12 at Truist Park in Atlanta.
The American League will include Jhostynxon Garcia
of the Boston Red Sox and Josué Briceño of the Detroit Tigers. While in the National League will be receiver Alfredo Duno of the Cincinnati Reds.
For the second consecutive year, three Criollos will be among the rising luminaries. Between the two leagues, 13 international players from six countries will be present, in addition to those from the United States. The Dominican Republic is represented by five players, followed by Venezuela, two from Canada, one from the Bahamas, one from Cuba and one from Panama.
Briceño is a 20-year-old catcher who is in Class A+ from Detroit and is fourth in the organization and this season averages .281, OPS of .994, 14 home runs and 51 RBIs in 50 games. While outfielder Garcia , he is fifth in the Boston organization in Triple A. This season has a .292 batting average, OBP of .363, OPS of .932.
For his part, 19-year-old receiver Duno is the
seventh prospect in the Cincinnati Reds in Class A. He currently averages .269 and
.875 OPS.
