The Attorney General's Office of Istanbul, Türkiye, issued this Friday, November 7, an arrest warrant against the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, and 36 other members of the Israeli government and military command, for crimes against humanity and on charges of genocide in the Gaza Strip, the Telesur website reported.
He points out that the 37 suspects include, in addition to Netanyahu, key figures of the Zionist establishment: Defense Minister Israel Katz; Israeli Border Security Minister Tamara Ben Gvir; Chief of the Israeli General Staff, Eyal Zamik; and the commander of the Israeli Naval Forces, David Saar Salama.
Since none of the defendants are in Turkish territory, the Public Prosecutor's Office asked the competent court to issue red INTERPOL notifications for their arrest and possible extradition. The investigation is ongoing with the collaboration of the Istanbul Police Department and the National Intelligence Organization (MIT).
“As a result of the genocide and crimes against humanity that the State of Israel has systematically committed in Gaza to date, thousands of people, including women and children, have lost their lives; thousands more have been injured and residential areas have become uninhabitable,” reads the statement from the Prosecutor's Office.
In addition, the blockade of the Palestinian enclave and the impediment to Palestinians from accessing humanitarian aid in the area are denounced.
They also reject the arrest and attacks in international waters of activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla when they went to Gaza at the end of September.
In this regard, they reported that an investigation has been opened “for the crimes of torture, aggravated looting, damage to property, deprivation of liberty and kidnapping or detention of means of transport”.
During this process, it was determined that Israeli State officials “are criminally responsible for systematic crimes against humanity and genocide committed in Gaza and for actions taken against the Sumud Global Flotilla.
In November of last year, the International Criminal Court (ICC) already issued arrest warrants against the Israeli Prime Minister and the former Defense Minister of the Jewish country, Yoav Gallant, for alleged crimes against humanity and war crimes.
