Last Thursday, the United Nations Human Rights Council approved a resolution that requests greater support from the international community for the implementation of the Colombian Peace Agreement.
The document urges observers and member States of the Human Rights Council, and civil society organizations to join the efforts of the Government of Colombia for the effective implementation of the agreement.
The resolution also calls for the cooperation of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in order to implement the recommendations of the international expert, the Chilean Antonia Urrejola, responsible for identifying obstacles to the implementation of the 2016 agreement.
He also suggests that the Attorney General's Office of Colombia investigate the complaints filed last year by the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP), which observed obstacles in some cases such as that of the former member of the FARC-EP and negotiator of the Peace Agreement, Jesús Santrich, arrested in 2018.
Telesur highlighted that a report presented last Wednesday by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights denounced some of the problems that still persist in Colombia.
