Due to the blockade of the Zionist government of Israel on the entry of food into Gaza, an unprecedented food crisis broke out that threatens to cause thousands of fatalities, said the humanitarian chief of the United Nations (UN), Tom Fletcher.

14,000 babies could die in the next 48 hours if humanitarian aid does not enter the Strip immediately. “I want to save as many of these 14,000 babies as possible in the next 48 hours,” he said in an interview with an international media outlet.

Israel in total disregard of the ceasefire and imposed a total blockade on the entry of gasoline and food, accelerating the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the enclave, already hit by a year and a half of bombings and forced displacements.

Most humanitarian and food distribution organizations suspend their activities to distribute food in places of conflict or hit by natural disasters.

It became known that bakeries have also been forced to close due to the lack of flour and the few foods that can be found in the market are sold at exorbitant prices due to scarcity.

Currently, more than 90% of the population of Gaza suffers from a serious lack of access to food, according to UN data; mothers are too malnourished to feed their babies. “It's creepy, absolutely chilling,” Fletcher lamented.

“We need to flood the Gaza Strip with help in the next 48 hours,” he stressed according to the English media, adding that thousands of trucks are ready to enter the enclave.
