Last Tuesday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested more than 80 people in New York during protests against the immigration policy of the Donald Trump administration, according to the New York Post newspaper, quoted by TASS.
Thousands of demonstrators gathered near City Hall to protest against ICE actions, against migrants; uniformed personnel used pepper spray several times to disperse the crowd.
Many of those arrested were accused of disturbing public order; the city's mayor, Eric Adams, condemned the ongoing riots across the country and warned that New York authorities would not tolerate violent demonstrations.
On June 6, mass arrests of undocumented migrants began in Los Angeles. As of the afternoon of June 7, 44 people were being held for violating immigration law. In response to law enforcement actions, demonstrations broke out in that American city, which later expanded to other parts of the country.
According to the CBS television channel, the demonstrators blocked a road and threw stones and firecrackers at Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
