Delegations from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Republic of Colombia set this Wednesday a work agenda to advance migratory issues related to children and adolescents, a schedule that begins in September and ends in December, and will focus on the protection of migrant minors, including family reunification and access to social services.

Both nations agreed to meet virtually every 15 days with related institutions to prioritize cases and guarantee all the mechanisms for the rights of the above-mentioned population, adopted within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding for the protection of children and adolescents.

The national representative reiterated, to the Colombian Institute for Family Welfare (ICBF), that the Plan Back to the Fatherland unifies all instances of protection of children and adolescents in the Venezuelan State, in order to guarantee the safe return of compatriots to the country.

The Colombian commission indicated that, through constructive dialogue, it will share the procedures that allow the search for the family network at the time of the reunification of the infant.

This technical meeting, which took place over two days at the “Antonio José de Sucre” Yellow House in Caracas, underlined the political will to protect the duties and rights of children and adolescents in the New Granada nation.
