At the Aquiles Nazoa Cultural House, the ministers of culture of Egypt and Venezuela held a meeting where the importance of bilateral relations and the ties of cooperation between the two nations was highlighted.

Regarding the meeting, the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas and his counterpart from the Arab Republic of Egypt, Ahmed Fouad Hanno, agreed on the excellent opportunity to hold the 21st International Book Fair of Venezuela (FILVEN) 2025, from July 3 to 13 at the National Art Gallery and Youth Square, in Caracas, where Egypt is the guest country of honor.

“We were grateful for the courtesy of the Egyptian Government to provide this edition of the fair with an important cultural exhibition, both with bibliography and with cultural exhibitions of a different nature that allow the Venezuelan people to enjoy a diverse International Book Fair; an encounter with that ancient culture and also with its contemporary cultural expressions,” said Villegas.

He also pointed out that FILVEN will offer a very large editorial exhibition, where Venezuelan production will also make an appearance. “FILVEN is the great cultural event of the year. Then, we will travel all over Venezuela with the regional chapters in each of the states, starting with the special guest state of this edition, Guiana Essequiba,” he said.

For his part, Minister Ahmed Fouad Hanno, said that Egypt considers Venezuela to be the gateway for Arabs in Latin America and invited the population to attend FILVEN 2025.

“We are going to have a lot of books on poetry, social sciences, literature, and the Venezuelan public will learn a lot about Egyptian culture through this fair. We hope you enjoy it,” he celebrated.

Villegas highlighted that between Venezuela and Egypt there is great sympathy and a common struggle for a balanced, multipolar and multicultural world, without the imposition of a hegemonic model.

In addition, he reported that, after FILVEN, exhibitions of contemporary Egyptian artists are expected to be held in Venezuela and the celebration of 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

“We have great admiration for Egypt, for its history and for its contemporaneity. We believe that it is part of the emerging world that is emerging in these tremendous difficulties that humanity is going through and these approaches strengthen us all on the path to a human humanity,” he stressed.
