The Deputy Minister for Latin America of the Ministry of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Rander Peña, reported that he held a meeting with the new ambassador of the Republic of Haiti in Venezuela, Jean Mary Vaval, whose main objective was to strengthen the ties of brotherhood and cooperation between the two nations, as part of a solidarity and profoundly Latin American diplomacy.
Through his channel on the social network Telegram, he stated that during the meeting, both authorities highlighted the importance of strengthening unity among the Peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean, inspired by the historical legacy of the liberators Simon Bolivar and Alexandre Pétion.
Relations between Venezuela and Haiti have a long history of cooperation and mutual support. From Pétion's historic aid to Bolivar to PETROCARIBE's energy agreements and humanitarian assistance following the 2010 earthquake, both countries have cultivated an alliance based on solidarity.
Venezuela has contributed to projects in areas such as health, education, infrastructure and energy in Haiti.
