The ambassador of the Republic of Venezuela accredited to the Republic of Iraq, Arturo Aníbal Gallegos, held a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Iraq, Abbas Jabr Al-Maliki, in order to review the joint cooperation in the area of livestock and the consumption of beef between the two nations.
In this regard, Gallegos proposed the visit of a technical delegation from the Ministry of Popular Power for Agriculture and Lands, in order to advance the exchange of experiences in the above-mentioned areas and discuss the possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding for agricultural cooperation, reported the Venezuelan Embassy in Iraq.
For his part, Al-Maliki expressed the willingness of the Iraqi government to promote the purchase of live Venezuelan cattle, given the need of the Government of the Republic of Iraq to import 400,000 head of cattle in the year 2025, in order to meet the demand for protein consumption of the Iraqi population.
In the framework of this meeting, he also highlighted the need to promote binational investment with the role of the private sector of both countries, creating opportunities for the Iraqi private sector to also develop its agro-industrial capacities, indicating the possibility of benefiting from Venezuelan experience in the field of poultry farming, livestock development and food industries, in order to supply the local market.
They also agreed to expand trade to include products such as coffee, cacao and Venezuelan tropical fruits, taking into account the surplus of wheat and date production in Iraq.
In this regard and within the framework of the 7T, the Bolivarian Government, through its diplomatic missions, is promoting a new culture of exports and non-oil trade in the country, highlighting the potential of Venezuela, precisely reflected in the export engine through the promotion of international trade and exports in food, industrial, agro-industrial and the development of other sectors.
