In the framework of the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30), which takes place in Belém, Brazil, the People's Power Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, held a significant meeting with Ruslán Edelgeriev, Russia's presidential envoy for climate change, in which they reaffirmed the bonds of brotherhood and the strategic alliance between the two nations.
During the meeting, the foreign minister conveyed greetings and thanks from President Nicolás Maduro for Moscow's “firm and unwavering position in the face of unjustified military threats” that seek to destabilize the Caribbean region.
Through his Telegram channel, Gil explained that they addressed the importance of preserving biodiversity and protecting life in all its forms, recognizing that international cooperation is key to facing these global challenges.
In addition, the parties exchanged an agenda of strategies and common points with the objective of strengthening measures aimed at preventing and mitigating the adverse effects of climate change.
At the COP, countries commit to taking action to mitigate climate change. This year, the summit is especially important, as it marks a critical point halfway to 2030, when countries are expected to meet their climate commitments under the Paris Agreement.
