The Minister of People's
Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, held a
meeting this Tuesday with the Minister of Justice of Sudan, Moawia Osman Moamed Khair
Mohamed Ahmed, regarding his coincidence at the 58th session of the Human Rights
Council of the United Nations, which takes place in Geneva - Switzerland.
Through his Telegram
channel, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister specified that during the meeting the ties between the two countries were
reaffirmed, and they reiterated their commitment to “
peace, self-determination and the economic development of our regions”.
Earlier this
month, the head of Venezuelan diplomacy held a telephone meeting with
his counterpart from Sudan, Ali Youssef Ahmed Al-Sharif, in which they reviewed bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
On that
occasion, Minister Gil reiterated Venezuela's commitment to “continue
collaborating to consolidate a new multipolar and pluricentric order, where
peoples can develop their economies and political projects freely.”
Diplomatic relations between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Republic of the
Sudan were established on May 4, 2005 and are marked by solidarity
at important moments, such as the crisis of 2019, when the
African nation joined the joint statement, addressed to the Secretary General of the United
Nations, António Guterres, in support of the Bolivarian Government of President Nicolás Maduro.
It was also
evident with Venezuela's condemnation of the attack carried out by the Rapid Support
Forces (RSF) against the Saudi Hospital of El Fasher, in Sudan, which
claimed the lives of more than 70 civilians, mostly women and children.
