The President in charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, stressed that during the working meeting with the Secretary of Energy of the United States, Christopher Wright, focal points of great importance for bilateral development were addressed through a long-term partnership in the field of gas, oil, mining and electric energy.

Rodríguez explained that they talked about “projects in the area of oil, gas, mining and electrical energy.” For these purposes, he said, the delegation that accompanied Wright met with its Venezuelan peers, seeking to agree positions that would allow “to move forward as quickly as possible.”

He also highlighted the establishment of a long-term productive partnership, aimed at consolidating an energy agenda that becomes an engine of bilateral relations, ensuring that it is effective and beneficial for both nations.

“We know that this first trip will become the opening for many other trips. I'm sure we'll have Secretary Wright and his technical teams visiting. We welcome this long-term energy agenda and productive partnership,” the interim president reiterated.

He recalled that the United States and Venezuela have maintained an energy relationship for almost a century and a half, beginning with the exploitation of asphalt, and that over time it has been marked by ups and downs in the political and geopolitical spheres.
