Venezuela assumes the Presidency of the Ministerial Council of the OPEC Fund for International Development

The Vice President of the Republic, Delcy
Rodríguez, reported this Thursday that Venezuela assumes the Presidency of the
Ministerial Council of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) for the period 2025-2026.
“Venezuela assumes with honor the Presidency of the Ministerial
Council of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) for
the period 2025-2026, after being elected on June 18 by member countries,”
he said through his Telegram channel.
In that regard, he indicated that this election “reflects
the trust of the international community in our country and reinforces our
commitment to energy development, strategic alliances and responsible
investment, under the leadership of President Nicolás Maduro.”
He said that Venezuela celebrates this
recognition and is committed to continuing to contribute to the construction of a multipolar and balanced
world.
“We celebrate this recognition, which
consolidates Venezuela as a relevant actor in multilateral
development organizations, where we continue to actively contribute to the construction of a multipolar and balanced
world,” he said.
The
OPEC Fund for International Development was created in 1976 and since then it has channeled
resources to infrastructure, health, education and access to basic
services projects in low and middle income countries that are not part of the block.
In addition, since its founding, the fund has contributed to the improvement of the living conditions of millions of people in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.
