The “Sirius” Scientific and Educational Center in the city of Sochi, Russia, becomes the epicenter of science, curiosity and learning, with the start of the 4th Edition of the Open World Astronomy Olympiad (OWAO) 2025, which will be held from September 20 to 27.

On her Telegram channel, the Sectorial Vice President of Science, Technology, Ecosocialism and Health, Gabriela Jiménez, indicated that this center will become, starting this Sunday, September 21, the “epicenter of science, curiosity and learning”.

“From September 20 to 27, young people from different corners of the world will compete in a demanding event divided into four rounds that will require ingenuity and creativity: observation, practice, theory and evaluation,” he said.

In this regard, he indicated that Venezuela will once again participate in this international event with six young people belonging to the National Scientific Seed Program: César Leal, Fabiola Martínez, Germán Noriega, Fernando Rivas, Samantha Buccé and Ivanna Madriz.

“This group of young people, from the National Scientific Seedbeds Program, are part of the 20 students with the highest grades of the First Venezuelan Astronomy Olympiad (OVA),” he said.

He argued that “our youth are active protagonists of the use of science and research as fundamental pillars for growth and development in Venezuela, thanks to the agenda promoted by the Bolivarian Government led by President @ NicolasMaduromoros”.

He also highlighted the words of Sergey Kravtsov, Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, at the opening ceremony where he stated that “astronomy teaches us to look beyond the horizon”.

He said that these Olympics will serve to inspire “all young people to make bold discoveries and show that science is a path to the future.”

“The future is in your hands and the entire universe is waiting for you!” emphasized.
