Through an official statement, published by the foreign minister, Yván Gil, Venezuela commemorated the 220th Anniversary of the Oath of Simon Bolivar in Monte Sacro.

Below is the full text of the statement:

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is filled with joy as it commemorates the 220th Anniversary of the Oath of Liberator Simon Bolivar, in Monte Sacro, a momentous event that occurred in 1805, which marked a turning point in the social and political development, not only of our homeland but for all of Our America and beyond.

The then young Simón Bolívar, only 22 years old and accompanied by his teacher Simón Rodríguez, uttered a visionary commitment to fight for the liberation of America from the Spanish yoke, embodying the will for freedom, sovereignty and unity of our peoples, giving origin and identity to Latin American and Caribbean nations.

This sacred oath continues to resonate and is a legacy and an essential reference that unswervingly guides peoples who fight against decadent empires and for the construction of more sovereign, just and inclusive societies.

This is how, from the insurgent Caracas, cradle of the Liberator of America, we swear before the sovereign Venezuelan people, not to give rest to our arms or rest to our souls until we break with any blockade or imperial pretension that seeks to prevent the will of the People and the irreversibility of our Bolivarian Revolution.
