The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela congratulates the people of France on the occasion of commemorating a new anniversary of the Taking of the Bastille this July 14th, a date that marked the beginning of one of the most momentous deeds in universal history: the French Revolution.
With it, the people rose up against
absolutism and proclaimed to the world the principles of freedom, equality and
fraternity, which not only shook Europe, but also sowed hope in the subjugated peoples of the world.
In Our America, these ideas were
echoed in the thinking of El Libertador Simón Bolívar and in the
independence struggles that gave birth to our republics.
Today, at a time of great challenges for humanity, we reaffirm our desire that the French people will once again encounter the original force of their Revolution: the one that placed the human being, social justice and popular sovereignty at the center.
