Venezuela congratulates Türkiye on its Day of Democracy and National Unity

On behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, the foreign minister, Yván Gil, congratulated the Republic of Türkiye on its Day of Democracy and National Unity.

Through his Telegram channel, the head of Foreign Affairs specified that this date is commemorated in honor of the popular resistance that stopped the coup attempt that occurred on that date in 2016.

He also applauded “the courage of the people of Türkiye who took to the streets in defense of democracy, freedom and national sovereignty, preventing the coup from achieving its objective. Today we celebrate the unity and resilience of Türkiye and reaffirm our ties of friendship and cooperation.”
