The Deputy Minister for Africa of the Ministry of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yuri Pimentel, accompanied the ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Kareem Amin, at the wreath-giving ceremony to the Liberator Simon Bolivar at the National Pantheon, in Caracas, on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of the Egyptian Revolution of July 23 of 1952, which transformed the territory from a kingdom to a nation.

During the protocol ceremony, Venezuela conveyed to the Government and friendly people of Egypt its best wishes for peace and development, reaffirming its firm commitment to supporting efforts to build a united and stable world, firmly anchored in respect for international law.

Caracas also confirmed to Cairo, once again, its interest in continuing to strengthen diplomatic relations of friendship and strategic cooperation, which became official on November 15, 1950 and were strengthened after 1999, with the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution under the leadership of Commander Hugo Chávez, continued by President Nicolás Maduro Moros, together with Foreign Minister Yván Gil.

July 23, 1952, marks the most important event in the modern history of Egypt, giving way to major changes in the political, economic and social spheres, to a new political system with great achievements in justice, peace, democracy and economic development. Egypt chose the anniversary of this Revolution to be its National Day.

The date constituted the Arab Republic of Egypt, sought the elimination of imperialism and its collaborators, the end of feudalism and the system of monopoly. This revolution also called for the establishment of social justice, the formation of a powerful national army and the construction of a solid democratic system.

Since then, the revolution led by President Gamal Abdel Nasser achieved great advances in social development, such as the nationalization of the Suez Canal and entrenched the Arab and African dimensions of Egyptian identity.

Nasser has a bust in the city of Caracas that symbolizes the recognition of his great revolution and his fervent fight against imperialism.
