Venezuela mourns the death of former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh (+statement)

In an official statement, released by Foreign Minister Yván Gil, this Friday the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela mourned the death of the former Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Manmohan Singh.

“In his lifetime, Singh left an indelible legacy as a visionary leader, whose economic policy not only promoted the development and modernization of India, but also strengthened South-South cooperation ties, opening opportunities for a fairer and more supportive exchange between developing nations,” the document states.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela deeply regrets the death of Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of the Republic of India and recognized creator and promoter of economic reforms that significantly transformed the socio-economic landscape of his nation.

In his lifetime, Singh left an indelible legacy as a visionary leader, whose economic policy not only promoted the development and modernization of India, but also strengthened South-South cooperation ties, opening opportunities for a fairer and more supportive exchange between developing nations.

From Venezuela, we honor their commitment to progress, their fight for equity and their example of dedication to the service of their people. Their vision of independent and sustainable development resonates with the ideals we defend in our quest for social justice and economic sovereignty. We express our deepest condolences to the people and government of India, as well as to the family and close friends of Dr. Manmohan Singh, at this time of sorrow.

In his memory, we reaffirm our will to continue building bridges of brotherhood between our nations, inspired by his example of responsible and transformative leadership.
