Venezuela reiterates firm support for the right of the Saharawi people to sovereignty

From New York, the Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, held a meeting this Friday with the new foreign minister of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), Mohamed Yeslem Beissat, during which “we express warm greetings to him on behalf of the Bolivarian Government”.
Mediante a post on his Telegram channel, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister reaffirmed the solid friendship and alliance that unite both peoples.
Además, “we reiterate Venezuela's firm support for the right of the Saharawi people to sovereignty and self-determination, reaffirming our commitment to the just and legitimate causes of peoples facing occupations and injustices,” Gil ratified.
Ambos foreign ministers meet at the headquarters of the United Nations (UN), on the occasion of the high-level week of the 80th session of its General Assembly.
El On August 6, through a diplomatic and cultural activity in the Foreign Ministry, the Bolivarian Government celebrated the 43rd anniversary of its recognition of the SADR as a sovereign and independent State, which occurred on August 3, 1982.
En March 2023, the president of RASD, Brahim Ghali, was received in Venezuela by his counterpart Nicolás Maduro, with whom he signed 10 cooperation agreements for the 2023-2025 Action Plan, in the areas of art and culture; agriculture; water; education basic and university education; fisheries and aquaculture; foreign relations and health.
Venezuela and the SADR established diplomatic relations on December 8, 1982, six years after this Arab territory was proclaimed a Republic on February 27, 1976.
