Through an official statement, published on Foreign Minister Yván Gil's Telegram account,
the Republic of Venezuela firmly and utterly rejects the new and ridiculous hoax of
the Secretary of the Department of State of the United States of
America, Marco Rubio, who designates the non-existent Cartel of the Suns as a terrorist organization.
According to the letter, this action reissues an
infamous and vile lie to justify an illegitimate and illegal intervention against
Venezuela, under the classic American format of regime change.
Below is the full text of the statement:
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically, firmly and absolutely rejects the new and ridiculous hoax of the Secretary of the Department of State of the United States of America, Marco Rubio, who designates the non-existent Cartel of the Suns as a terrorist organization, thus reissuing an infamous and vile lie to justify an illegitimate and illegal intervention against Venezuela, under the classic American format of regime change. This new maneuver will follow the fate of the previous and recurring aggressions against our country: to fail.
It is
foolish for the Venezuelan government to waste part of its valuable governing time to have to respond to these
infamies and calumnies. Fortunately, the
Venezuelan people are more united and cohesive than ever, attending to national life
in all its dimensions and on track during the Christmas festivities.
The Bolivarian
Republic of Venezuela urges the U.S. government to rectify
this erratic policy of aggressions and threats, categorically rejected
by the people of the United States, which affect the development of the peoples of the
Caribbean and do not contribute to a real and genuine fight against drug trafficking.
Once again, our people, in perfect popular, police and military union, will be able to protect
peace and the highest interests of our Republic. And with the Liberator
Simon Bolivar we say out loud: Peace will be my port, my glory, my reward, my hope,
my joy and everything that is precious to me in this world.
