Venezuela says it will be present at the Ibero-American Mathematics Olympiad

A delegation from Venezuela, made up of four young students from the National Scientific Semilleros Program, is in La Araucanía, Chile, to participate in the Ibero-American Mathematics Olympiad 2025, which takes place in the South American country until September 29.

In this competition, as reported by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MINCYT), José Leonardo Marquina (16 years old), Luis Fabrizio Meléndez (17 years old), Marcela Huatuco (17 years old) and Juan Martínez (17 years old) participate.

The joust is attended by nearly 30 countries, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Venezuela and other Spanish-speaking or Portuguese-speaking countries.

This competition, organized for young talents under 18 years of age, consists of two written tests that will take place on two consecutive days. Each evaluation consists of three problems, where each contestant will work individually.

The Ibero-American Mathematics Olympiad is organized every year with the objective of stimulating the study of mathematics, fostering friendly relations between students and teachers, and creating opportunities for the exchange of educational experiences among mathematics teachers in these countries.
