The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, in a meeting this Saturday with his Iranian counterpart, Seyed Abás Araqchi, confirmed his Government's support for the Persian nation “in the face of external threats and pressures”.

In addition, “we have thanked the expressions of solidarity received in the face of the military threat in the Caribbean,” said the Venezuelan diplomat on his Telegram channel.

He indicated in the publication that they also addressed regional conjunctures and reaffirmed the joint position in defense of the principles of the Charter of the United Nations (UN).

The meeting took place in New York, at the close of the high-level day of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

Last Thursday, Gil and Abás Araqchi exchanged greetings at the UN and, in a brief conversation, reaffirmed the strong friendship, political alliance and commitment to strategic development between their nations.

On August 26, both foreign ministers held a telephone dialogue, in which they exchanged progress on various bilateral and cooperation issues.

On August 9, Caracas and Tehran celebrated 75 years since the establishment of their diplomatic relations, based on the political affinity of their revolutions and the vision of a multipolar and pluricentric world.
