Venezuela won 16 medals at the World Olympics for Young Physicists

The Minister of Popular Power for Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, celebrated the outstanding performance of the Venezuelan delegation at the World Olympics of Young Physicists (WYPO) 2025, in which a total of 16 medals and three honorable mentions were won.
Through his Telegram channel, he highlighted that the 19 students obtained a total of two gold medals, five silver medals, nine bronze medals and three honorable mentions, consolidating the country among the emerging powers of scientific knowledge.
Jiménez highlighted the talent and dedication of the young people who participated in this international competition, also noting that the results are the result of the National Scientific Seed Program, a strategic initiative promoted by President Nicolás Maduro, to promote the training of new generations in scientific and technological areas.
The gold medalists were Carlos Gómez and Adolfo Acosta, who spearheaded the successful Venezuelan participation in this event that encourages critical thinking and the resolution of complex problems.
Sofía Martins, Nazareth Zamora, Fernando Rivas, Gabriela Monasterios and Nidia Jaimes were also awarded silver medals, while Miguel Mata, Ángel Manzanilla, Sebastián Funes, César Leal, Miguel Vergel, Antares Mora, Victoria Ladrón de Guevara, Germán Noriega and Fabiola Martínez won bronze. The honorable mentions went to Mathías Alvarado, Santiago Chacón and Rosa Chacón.
