This Friday, August 08, the Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, reported that she held a meeting with the Deputy Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Mame Mandiaye Niang, in The Hague, to record the Venezuela II report, which demonstrates the impact on the health and lives of peoples of unilateral coercive measures.

Through his Telegram channel, he specified that the study “this research, which covered 152 countries, determined that more than 564,000 people, disproportionately under 5 years of age and older adults, die every year as a result of the 'sanctions' adopted by the Government of the United States of America and other Western countries to promote the policy of 'regime change'. This figure is similar to the annual mortality rate from armed conflict.”

For this reason, he indicated that he took advantage of the meeting to draw the "attention of the Deputy Prosecutor to the slow progress of this matter, which began more than 5 years ago as a result of a Referral made by Venezuela.”

He also noted that the issue known as Venezuela I was also addressed, in which it was ratified that “no crimes provided for in the Rome Statute have been committed” in the country; for this reason, he added that our country reaffirmed its willingness to continue and deepen positive complementarity mechanisms and joint work plans in the area of cooperation and technical assistance, based on respect for the primacy of national jurisdiction.

He added that the meeting was also an opportunity to highlight the responsible and professional action of State security agencies in defense of peace and the protection of the rights of the people.
